Explore the USP Student Experience

What USP students say about our program

"Very interesting. Real world applications and classes that take learning outside the classroom and try to give experience. Amazing faculty and staff. Friendly warm students. Small enough for individualized attention. Intellectually stimulating. Important in the live of an individual - and more!" - USP Student 1

"I think it's a great field that has a lot of jobs and will continue to grow in the future. Only needing an undergrad degree to get a good job is appealing, and I think that the smarter people in the profession the happier and healthier we all will be." - USP Student 2

"Amazing professors, a lot of different concentrations you can get into, lots of opportunities, very practical, loved senior capstone and the internship requirement." - USP Student 3

"This program focuses on research and real-world application. Courses like the urban design practicum, life course scholars, urban challenges: homelessness, and senior sequence bring learning into the real world  and let you apply in a way that has an impact. I felt like I had a lot of good hands-on experience that many majors and urban planning programs don't offer." - USP Student 4

"Anytime I have to explain my major to someone unfamiliar with our department, the word I always use to describe the field/course offerings is 'breadth'. Even now, about to graduate, I am excited by the numerous opportunities that I have due to my USP major. I could go into politics/policymaking, data science/GIS, public health, design/architecture, research/academia, and more. There are so many complementary fields and careers that I think I could not have had a better baseline education from any other major (in my interests, at least) for undergrad." - USP Student 5

"In one sentence, please describe what your education has encompassed/offered you so far" (Student Reps Survey 2025).
